What is Modular Routers?

Modular Routers by desht packs a whole logistics toolkit into a single block. An Item Router holds up to nine modules, each giving it one behavior: pull items, send items, place blocks, break blocks, use items on the world, void overflow, or vacuum drops off the ground.

Because behaviors combine in one block, routers excel at compact automation cells: a cobblestone generator, an auto-farm, a trash chute, and an armor-charging stand can each be one router with two or three modules.

Modules and Upgrades

Frequently used modules:

  • Puller – pulls from the inventory the router faces (or a targeted one, with range).
  • Sender Mk1–Mk3 – pushes items to targets, from adjacent up to cross-dimension.
  • Placer / Breaker – place blocks into the world or break the block in front, respecting filters and silk/fortune enchants applied to the module.
  • Activator – right-clicks or attacks as a fake player, so it can bone meal crops, use buckets, or push buttons.
  • Vacuum – hoovers item drops in a radius into the router.
  • Voider – deletes filtered overflow.
  • Distributor – round-robins output across several inventories.

Upgrades stack alongside: speed upgrades shrink the tick interval, stack upgrades raise items-per-operation, range upgrades extend reach, and camouflage upgrades disguise the router as any block. Filters on each module accept items, tags, mod IDs, and regex-like rules.

Tip: The classic starter build: router with Breaker module facing a cobble generator, Sender pushing to storage. Add a Voider filtered to cobble once storage fills.

Modular Routers FAQ

Can Modular Routers act as a fake player?

Yes. Activator and Breaker modules perform player-like actions, including tool use and right-clicks, which automates crops, levers, and machines that expect player interaction.

How fast can a router run?

Base routers tick every second; a full set of speed upgrades brings an operation down to every other game tick, and stack upgrades move up to full stacks per operation.

Do routers need power?

No energy is required by default. Routers run on their own, which makes them a favorite for early-game and skyblock automation.
