What is Pipez?
Pipez by henkelmax is the pipe mod most kitchen-sink packs reach for first. It adds five pipe types — Item, Fluid, Energy, Gas (Mekanism chemicals), and Universal (all four in one) — with dirt-cheap recipes, clean visuals, and server-friendly performance.
There is no power requirement and no network controller: place pipes between an inventory and a destination and they work.
Using Pipes and Upgrades
- Connect pipes between source and target blocks. A wrench toggles individual connections and extraction points.
- Mark the extraction side. Right-click the pipe end touching the source inventory with the wrench to set it to extract.
- Insert upgrades into extraction points to tune behavior:
| Upgrade | Item transfer | Extras |
|---|---|---|
| None | 1 item / 20 ticks | — |
| Basic | 4 items / 20 ticks | filters unlocked |
| Improved | 16 items / 10 ticks | filters |
| Advanced | 32 items / 5 ticks | filters |
| Ultimate | 64 items / tick | filters, round-robin |
| Infinity | whole stacks / tick | everything |
Filters accept item lists, tags, and NBT matching, with whitelist and blacklist modes. Distribution modes live on the same upgrade GUI, covering nearest-first, round-robin, furthest-first, and random delivery.
Universal Pipes carry all four transfer types at once, which keeps machine rooms readable: one line per machine face, no color-coded spaghetti.
Pipez FAQ
Why is my Pipez pipe not moving anything?
The pipe end on the source inventory must be set to extract (wrench right-click shows a colored square when active). Without an upgrade, transfer is slow: one item per second; add upgrades for speed.
Do Pipez gas pipes work with Mekanism?
Yes. Gas pipes (and Universal pipes) move Mekanism chemicals directly, which makes Pipez a popular companion for Mekanism ore processing lines.
Pipez or XNet: which should I use?
Pipez wins on simplicity and cost for point-to-point lines. XNet wins for dense many-machine setups managed through one cable network with channels. Many bases use Pipez early and both later.
