What is RFTools?
RFTools is McJty's modular family of RF-powered utility mods for Forge and NeoForge, split into focused modules: RFTools Base, Utility, Power, Builder, Storage, Control, and RFTools Dimensions. Packs mix and match, but the toolkit covers teleportation, force fields, information screens, quarrying, and building entire custom dimensions.
Everything runs on Forge Energy with McJty's trademark deep-but-documented GUIs.
Key Machines by Module
- Teleportation (Utility): the Matter Transmitter, Matter Receiver, and Dialing Device build a base-to-base teleport network with per-player access control.
- Screens (Utility): wall-mounted displays with swappable modules showing energy, fluids, item counts, clocks, or free text — the classic base dashboard.
- Powercells (Power): linked energy storage; multiple cells share one buffer across dimensions.
- Builder (Builder): one block that quarries, moves, or clears entire regions using Shape Cards (quarry, void, pump variants). A silk-touch quarry card in a Builder is one of modded Minecraft's best-value mining setups.
- Shield Projector (Utility): invisible or camouflaged force fields with per-entity rules that can block hostiles, damage them, or let players pass.
- Crafter (Utility): automated crafting of up to eight recipes in sequence, an early-game autocrafting staple.
- Storage (Storage): the Modular Storage block and Storage Scanner give filtered, searchable access to nearby inventories.
RFTools Dimensions
The Dimensions module lets you design and generate custom dimensions from dimlets: knowledge fragments describing terrain, biomes, features, mobs, time, and materials. Combine dimlets in the Dimension Builder, pay the RF maintenance cost, and step through to a world matching your spec.
Dimension economics matter, because exotic dimlets — material worlds of diamond blocks, peaceful settings, custom time — drive the maintenance cost up sharply. Power failure freezes the dimension until fed again, so pair the builder with serious generation from Mekanism, Powah, or reactors.
Dimlets are researched and assembled through the Knowledge Holder and workbench chain, which makes exploration for dimlet parts its own progression loop.
RFTools FAQ
How do I set up an RFTools teleporter?
Place a powered Matter Transmitter, a Matter Receiver at the destination, and link them with the Dialing Device by selecting transmitter and receiver. Step on the transmitter pad to travel.
How much power does the RFTools Builder quarry need?
It scales with speed and card type: a basic quarry card runs on modest early-game power, while clearing quarry cards at full speed want tens of thousands of FE/t. It works at any supply rate, just slower.
Is RFTools Dimensions in every pack with RFTools?
No, it ships as a separate module. Check for rftoolsdim in the mod list; without it you still get teleporters, the Builder, screens, and storage from the other modules.
