What is Mob Grinding Utils?

Mob Grinding Utils (MGU) by vadis365 is the dedicated mob-farm toolkit for Forge and NeoForge. Where general tech mods give you one killing block, MGU supplies the whole production line: fans to move mobs, mashers to kill them with configurable upgrades, hoppers that drink XP, and tanks and solidifiers to bank the experience.

It is a fixture in skyblock and kitchen-sink packs because a full farm needs no power at all.

Building a Farm

  1. Move mobs with Fans. MGU fans push entities in a straight line; upgrade them with Width and Height Upgrades to cover whole spawn platforms, and Speed Upgrades for throw distance.
  2. Kill with the Mob Masher. Spikes on a block face damage everything in front. Insert upgrade cards such as Sharpness for damage, Looting for drop rates, and Beheading for mob skulls (browse your version's full card list in JEI).
  3. Collect with the Absorption Hopper. It vacuums drops and fluid XP in a radius, outputting items to inventories and XP as fluid to tanks.
  4. Bank the XP. The XP Solidifier turns fluid XP into Solidified Experience items that right-click back into orbs; a Fluid XP Tank buffers in between.
  5. Boost spawns with Mob Swab genetics: swab a mob, incubate the DNA into a GM Chicken Feed spawn egg pipeline for controlled spawner rooms (version-dependent extras).

A fan corridor pushing mobs into a masher wall over an absorption hopper is the entire classic build — silent, powerless, and fast.

Mob Grinding Utils FAQ

Does Mob Grinding Utils need power?

No. Fans, mashers, and hoppers all run without energy; upgrades install directly into the blocks.

How do I get player-only drops with MGU?

The Mob Masher counts as a player kill for most loot purposes, and Looting upgrade cards raise drop rates. For strictly player-only mechanics, combine it with fake-player solutions from other mods in your pack.

What do I do with fluid XP?

Store it in tanks, solidify it into portable Solidified Experience with the XP Solidifier, or pipe it to other mods' XP-consuming machines that accept the fluid.
