What is LaserIO?
LaserIO is a logistics mod by Direwolf20 for Forge and NeoForge that replaces pipe runs with visible laser links. Laser Nodes connect to each other through the air with laser beams, and Laser Connectors attach to machines, all managed by insertable cards that define what moves where.
The aesthetic is half the appeal — glowing beams crisscrossing a machine room — but the card system is genuinely powerful, with per-card filters, speeds, and channels.
Cards, Channels, and Overclockers
- Place Laser Connectors on the machines you want to link and a Laser Node as a hub.
- Link them with the Laser Wrench — beams connect nodes and connectors up to a configurable distance.
- Insert cards into connector faces: Item Cards, Fluid Cards, Energy Cards, Chemical Cards (with Mekanism), and Redstone Cards, each set to insert or extract.
- Match channels. Cards communicate on numbered channels, so one node network can carry many independent routes.
- Speed things up with Overclocker cards installed inside cards, raising transfer rates and reducing tick intervals.
Redstone cards deserve a call-out: they transmit redstone states across the laser network, letting one lever arm a whole factory without redstone wiring.
Tip: Sneak-clicking with the Laser Wrench hides beams you have finished configuring, keeping showcase builds clean.
LaserIO FAQ
How far can LaserIO lasers reach?
Nodes and connectors link within a configurable range (16 blocks by default between devices). Chain nodes to span longer distances.
Does LaserIO support Mekanism chemicals?
Yes, Chemical Cards move Mekanism gases and chemicals when Mekanism is installed, alongside the standard item, fluid, energy, and redstone cards.
What versions does LaserIO cover?
Forge builds for 1.18.2 through 1.20.1 and NeoForge builds for 1.20.6 through 1.21.1.
