What is Ping Wheel?
Ping Wheel by LukenSkyne brings shooter-style pinging to Minecraft: press the ping key (mouse 5 by default, rebindable) and a marker appears at whatever you aimed at, visible to nearby teammates through walls for a few seconds. Pinging an entity sticks the marker to it as it moves.
It is the lowest-friction coordination tool for co-op survival, boss fights, and dungeon runs — no coordinates over voice chat, just "there."
Usage and Configuration
- Ping a block or spot: tap the ping key while aiming; the marker renders with distance for everyone in range.
- Ping an entity: aim at a mob or player and the ping tracks the target — ideal for calling focus targets in fights.
- Ping channels: set a named channel in the config so only your party sees your pings on busy servers; blank channel means global.
- Sound and visuals: each ping plays a directional sound; duration, distance limits, and marker scale are configurable client-side.
- Server-side: the mod must be on the server plus clients that want to see pings.
Tip: Bind ping somewhere reachable mid-fight (a side mouse button earns its keep). Two pings in rhythm reads as "danger here" without a word spoken.
Ping Wheel FAQ
Does Ping Wheel need to be installed on the server?
Yes, server plus clients. Vanilla clients on the same server simply see no pings; nothing breaks.
Can other players see my pings everywhere?
Pings broadcast within a configurable radius on your channel. Set a private channel string for party-only pings.
