What is Functional Storage?

Functional Storage by Buuz135 is a modern take on the drawer concept: wall-mounted blocks that each store large quantities of a few item types, with the count displayed on the face. It ships drawers in 1, 2, and 4-slot layouts, fluid drawers, a compacting drawer, and quality-of-life blocks that older drawer mods never had.

Drawers shine as bulk storage for stackables like cobblestone, ingots, and crops, exactly where digital systems waste disk space. Most builds pair a drawer wall with AE2 or Refined Storage through an external storage bus.

Drawers, Upgrades, and Utility Blocks

  • Storage upgrades (copper through netherite) multiply capacity per slot; stacking multiple upgrades compounds.
  • Void Upgrade deletes overflow once full; Collector Upgrade vacuums nearby drops matching the drawer's item.
  • Puller/Pusher Upgrades move items from or to adjacent inventories, making single drawers into mini-hoppers.
  • Compacting Drawer stores one material across its nugget/ingot/block forms and converts freely between them.
  • Storage Controller lets you deposit into an entire linked wall by clicking one block; the Linking Tool binds distant drawers into the network.
  • Armory Cabinet stores thousands of unstackable items in one searchable block, which makes it the standard fix for the clutter of tools, armor, and enchanted books.
  • Ender Drawer shares contents across every placed copy with the same frequency, including across dimensions.

The Configuration Tool locks drawers (keep the assigned item at zero count), toggles number rendering, and hides upgrade visuals.

Functional Storage FAQ

How much does a Functional Storage drawer hold?

A base 1-slot drawer holds 32 stacks of its item. Storage upgrades multiply that by large factors per tier, reaching millions with netherite stacks.

How do drawers connect to AE2 or Refined Storage?

Point a Storage Bus (AE2) or External Storage (RS) at the Storage Controller. The whole drawer network then reads as one inventory with correct counts.

What is the Armory Cabinet for?

Mass storage of unstackables. It accepts thousands of tools, armor pieces, and enchanted books, searchable in its GUI, keeping them out of your main system.
