What is FTB Quests?

FTB Quests by the FTB Team is the questing framework used by most guided modpacks, from All the Mods to FTB's own lines. Packs define chapters of quests, from collecting items to visiting dimensions and crafting machines, and players progress through a book UI with rewards along the way.

It ships on Forge, NeoForge, and Fabric, and progression syncs across party members through the companion FTB Teams mod.

Using the Quest Book

  • Open the book from the inventory button or its keybind; chapters list down the side, quest nodes connect in dependency trees.
  • Task types vary: item submission (click the quest, submit from inventory), checkmark tasks, kill counters, location visits, advancement mirrors, and observation tasks that watch what you look at.
  • Autodetection: many item tasks complete the moment the item enters your inventory; others need manual submission in the quest screen.
  • Rewards vary by pack: direct items, XP, reward-table loot crates, choice chests where you pick one option, and command-driven unlocks are all common.
  • Team play: create or join a party via FTB Teams (in-book button or /ftbteams) and quest progress, task submissions, and rewards share across members per pack settings.
  • Pinned quests track on-screen; the map pin and search tools handle giant quest lines.

Tip: Stuck quests are usually tag mismatches — check the quest's hover tooltip for the exact accepted items, and try crafting the specific mod's variant it names.

FTB Quests FAQ

How do I share FTB Quests progress with friends?

Form a party with FTB Teams (button inside the quest book on most packs). Members share quest progress and, depending on pack config, rewards.

Why will my quest not complete?

Item tasks may require manual submission in the quest screen, an exact item variant, or NBT-matching gear. Hover the task for the precise requirement; observation and location tasks need you physically present or looking at the target.

Can I edit quests in my own pack?

Yes, with edit mode enabled (single-player with cheats or dedicated config), the in-game editor creates chapters, quests, tasks, and rewards without touching files.
