What is Explorer's Compass?
Explorer's Compass by Chaosyr is the structure-locating sibling of Nature's Compass: one craftable compass whose GUI lists every structure registered in the game — vanilla villages and bastions, YUNG's overhauls, When Dungeons Arise castles, anything — and points to the nearest instance of your pick.
It is the survival-legal replacement for /locate on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge.
Usage and Behavior
- Craft the compass (compass plus materials from structure-adjacent loot in the standard recipe).
- Sneak right-click for the structure list; search by name, filter by mod or dimension, and group variants.
- Select and follow: the HUD shows structure name, distance, and heading while held.
Practical notes:
- Rare structures with huge spacing (mansions, WDA megastructures) can take a moment to resolve and may report distant results — that is the real distance, budget travel accordingly.
- The compass respects dimension context: search Nether structures from the Nether.
- Config caps search radius and can blacklist structures on servers.
Between this, Nature's Compass, and a waystone network, overland exploration becomes fully directed: pick target, get bearing, teleport home after.
Explorer's Compass FAQ
What is the difference between Explorer's Compass and Structure Compass?
Both locate structures by name. They are separate mods with similar capability; Explorer's Compass (Chaosyr) shares its interface style with Nature's Compass, while Structure Compass (Mrbysco) is its own implementation. Packs ship one or the other.
Can it find modded structures?
Yes, the list draws from the structure registry, so every installed mod's structures are searchable automatically.
