What is BetterNether?

BetterNether (paulevs, maintained by Quiqueck) packs the Nether with new biomes, jungle-dense flora, mobs, and the mod's landmark Nether Cities — multi-tower ruins rising from the lava fog. It is the Fabric counterpart to BetterEnd and shares its philosophy: make a hostile dimension habitable and interesting long-term.

What You Will Find

  • Biomes: bone reefs, mushroom forests, gravel deserts, poor-soul valleys, and swampy magma shores layered into vanilla's Nether generation.
  • Nether Cities: large ruined complexes with loot, hazards, and enough intact architecture to convert into a base.
  • Materials: Cincinnasite (the workhorse Nether metal with lantern and tool lines) and Nether Ruby for gear with fire-appropriate perks; obsidian variants and dozens of building blocks.
  • Plants and farming: stalagnate reeds, wart-based crops, and gray mold make food and wood renewable without trips back to the overworld.
  • Mobs: hostile additions (naga, flying pig jockeys of assorted menace) and ambient life (fireflies) that make the fog feel inhabited.

With BetterEnd installed alongside, a Fabric world's three dimensions each carry a full settlement-grade ecosystem.

BetterNether FAQ

Does BetterNether change vanilla Nether biomes?

Vanilla biomes remain; BetterNether injects its additions between and within them, densifying the dimension rather than replacing it.

Is there a Forge version of BetterNether?

Official support is Fabric-only, matching BetterEnd. Third-party ports of older versions exist unofficially.
