What is BetterEnd?
BetterEnd (by paulevs, maintained by Quiqueck) transforms the End's outer islands into a collection of alien ecosystems on Fabric — glowing chorus forests and crystal mountains give way to amber wastes and shadow groves, each with bespoke plants, mobs, and ambience. The mod treats the End as a place to live rather than loot once.
A full material progression and its own ritual mechanics give post-dragon play real structure.
Biomes, Metals, and Rituals
- Biomes: Foggy Mushroomland, Crystal Mountains, Amber Land, Shadow Forest, Blossoming Spires, Sulphur Springs and more — each visually distinct enough to navigate by silhouette.
- Metal ladder: Thallasium (entry, End-native), Terminite (mid), and Aeternium (endgame, above netherite) with anvils and gear to match; the End Stone Smelter handles the alloying.
- Rituals: the Eternal Ritual links portals through the End using runed pedestals — the mod's infrastructure for traveling its expanded dimension (and back home) without spamming gateway pearls.
- Flora and food native to each biome, from shadow berries to amber roots and mushrooms, support permanent End bases.
- Mobs range from ambient (fireflies, cubozoa) to hostile shadow creatures worth respecting.
The sibling mod BetterNether applies the same philosophy to the Nether; the pair defines the "paulevs dimensions" aesthetic on Fabric.
BetterEnd FAQ
Is BetterEnd available for Forge?
Official builds are Fabric-only. Unofficial Forge ports of older versions exist from third parties with varying maintenance.
What is Aeternium?
BetterEnd's top-tier metal, alloyed from Terminite and other End materials in the End Stone Smelter. Aeternium tools and armor exceed netherite stats.
