What is The Undergarden?

The Undergarden by quek is a melancholy underground dimension for Forge and NeoForge, its vast caverns filled with smog vents, glowing fungal forests, and still black lakes. It is pitched at the early-to-mid game rather than the end of a pack. The tone is quiet dread over jump-scares, and the dimension rewards methodical exploration with its own full material progression.

Portal and Progression

  1. Build a stone brick frame like a Nether portal.
  2. Craft the Catalyst (gold and stone) and use it on the frame to ignite the portal.
  3. Drop into the caverns — bring torches; natural light is scarce and the smog hangs heavy.

Material ladder:

  • Cloggrum – the iron-equivalent, common in the upper layers.
  • Froststeel – cold-blue metal from the frozen depths with knockback-oriented gear.
  • Utherium – the diamond-tier, found near the dangerous Uthenwald and deep biomes.
  • Forgotten Metal – the top tier, smithed from boss-adjacent materials.

The locals range from harmless Gwibs and Mogs to rot-beasts and the hulking Forgotten Guardian. Stoneborn traders in the deep exchange goods for currency-like items, giving the dimension its own economy loop.

The Undergarden FAQ

How do I make the Undergarden portal?

Build a Nether-portal-shaped frame from stone bricks and right-click it with the Catalyst item to activate.

What tier of gear should I bring to the Undergarden?

Iron-to-diamond is the intended entry window. Once inside, the dimension supplies its own gear ladder, working up from cloggrum through froststeel to utherium.
