What is Simply Swords?

Simply Swords by Sweenus adds a full arsenal beyond the sword-and-axe duopoly: glaives, spears, katanas, rapiers, chakrams, greathammers, greataxes, twinblades, halberds, scythes, and cutlasses, each in every vanilla material tier plus unique legendary variants with active abilities. It ships for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge.

Native Better Combat integration gives every weapon type a proper moveset, which is why the two mods travel together in RPG packs.

Weapon Types and Uniques

Standard types trade familiar stats. Rapiers strike fast and light where greathammers land slow and staggering, spears and glaives buy you reach, twinblades sweep crowds, and a thrown chakram comes back.

Unique weapons are the chase items — found in loot, fights, and structures, each with an on-use or passive ability:

  • Storm-calling blades that chain lightning on crits.
  • Soul-reaping scythes healing on kills.
  • Blink daggers, flame-wave greatswords, and frost hammers with area slows — the roster spans dozens of uniques with cooldown-based actives.
  • Runic empowerment: some versions add socketable runic upgrades that alter unique abilities; JEI documents your version's system.

Balance targets vanilla-plus: uniques compete with enchanted netherite rather than obsoleting it, and everything respects enchanting.

Tip: Unique drop sources include structure loot, strong mobs, and version-specific crafting materials — tooltips state each unique's source once discovered.

Simply Swords FAQ

How do I get unique weapons in Simply Swords?

Loot structure chests and defeat strong mobs, or check the version-specific crafting stations. Uniques display their ability and source in tooltips and JEI.

Does Simply Swords require Better Combat?

No, it works standalone, but with Better Combat installed every weapon type gains matching animated movesets — the recommended pairing.
