What is Inventory Profiles Next?
Inventory Profiles Next (IPN) by blackd is the full-service inventory manager for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge: sort buttons in every GUI, bulk move-matching-items controls, slot locking, and profiles that re-equip entire gear loadouts with one keypress.
If Mouse Tweaks is about moving stacks, IPN is about never thinking about inventory layout again.
Sorting, Locking, and Profiles
- Sort buttons appear on player inventory and containers: sort by category, alphabetically, or by count, with per-container memory of your preference.
- Move-matching buttons transfer everything the other inventory already contains — restock a supply chest or drain loot in one click.
- Locked slots pin items to positions so tools, food, and building blocks keep their hotbar order. Sorting and auto-refill respect locks; configure by picking the lock mode and clicking slots.
- Auto-refill swaps in fresh stacks and replacement tools as items break or run out, including damaged-tool protection thresholds.
- Gear profiles: save equipment sets (armor, offhand, hotbar layout) and switch between mining, combat, and elytra loadouts with hotkeys.
- Editor mode customizes button placement per GUI when modded screens get crowded.
Tip: Lock your hotbar plus a "keep row" of essentials, then spam sort freely — the locked layout survives every sort and death restock.
Inventory Profiles Next FAQ
How do I lock slots in Inventory Profiles Next?
Open the IPN settings (keybind in Controls), enable the lock mode, and click the slots to lock; locked slots show an overlay marker. Sorting and refill leave them alone.
Does IPN work on servers without the mod?
Yes, core features work client-side on vanilla-compatible servers. A few integrations behave better with server support, but nothing requires it.
