What is Extended AE?
Extended AE by GlodBlock is the quality-of-life addon most large Applied Energistics 2 bases install first. It targets the friction points of endgame AE2: pattern provider slot counts, assembler throughput, bus speeds, and filter expressiveness.
Loader coverage follows AE2 itself: Fabric and Forge on 1.19.2/1.20.1, NeoForge on 1.21.1.
Highlight Devices
- Extended Pattern Provider and Interface – 36 slots per block, collapsing pattern walls into a few providers.
- Assembler Matrix – a scalable multiblock crafter that replaces fields of Molecular Assemblers, plus a standalone Extended Molecular Assembler with 8x parallelism.
- Faster Import/Export Buses – 8x throughput variants for high-volume lines.
- Tag and Mod filter buses – Storage and Export Buses that filter by item tag or by mod ID, ending giant manual filter lists.
- Precise Export Bus – exact per-slot exporting for machines that care about counts.
- Pattern Modifier – batch-edit encoded patterns (multiply amounts, substitute items) without re-encoding by hand.
- Extended Inscriber and Charger – parallel processor pressing and charging.
- Infinity Cells – water and cobblestone cells that report endless supply to the network.
- ME Wireless Connector – long-range wireless bridge between network segments, replacing awkward quantum-ring setups within a dimension.
Note: On 1.21 the mod drops JEI support in favor of the bundled stack; install the FTB JEI Extras bridge if your pack standardizes on JEI.
Extended AE FAQ
Does Extended AE require Applied Energistics 2?
Yes, it is an addon and loads only alongside a matching AE2 version.
What is the Assembler Matrix?
A multiblock of matrix frames, crafting accelerators, and pattern slots that acts as one massive molecular assembler. It scales crafting throughput by size, replacing dozens of individual assemblers.
Which versions have a NeoForge build?
1.21.1 runs on NeoForge. The 1.19.2 and 1.20.1 lines ship Fabric and Forge builds instead, mirroring AE2 loader support.
