What is Creeper Overhaul?
Creeper Overhaul by joosh replaces the one-size-fits-all creeper with biome-specific variants — over twenty of them — each with its own model, texture, sounds, and often behavior. Jungle creepers climb like vines gone wrong while their desert cousins vanish against the sand — and yes, the ocean creeper swims at you.
It runs on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge, and it is the rare mob mod whose main effect is aesthetic delight rather than added difficulty.
Variants and Behavior
Representative variants:
- Jungle Creeper – mossy and vine-draped, much harder to spot in foliage.
- Desert and Badlands Creepers – sand-toned ambushers of open terrain.
- Snowy and Spruce Creepers – frost-furred stalkers of cold forests.
- Swamp Creeper – mud-caked and mercifully visible by silhouette.
- Ocean Creeper – swims; yes, that changes beach nights.
- Cave and Dripstone Creepers – underground palettes matching their strata.
- Mushroom Fields Creeper – docile by default, in keeping with its island.
Behavior tweaks stay modest and fully configurable: some variants are neutral until provoked, and some carry slightly different fuse or blast characteristics. Vanilla creeper spawn rules apply — the variants replace rather than add spawns, so mob caps and farms behave normally.
Creeper Overhaul FAQ
Do Creeper Overhaul variants change explosion damage?
Mostly no; blast behavior stays near vanilla with minor per-variant character, and everything is config-adjustable. The overhaul is primarily visual and atmospheric.
Does it work with creeper farms?
Yes, variants count as creepers for spawning and drops, so gunpowder farms function unchanged.
