What is Botany Pots?
Botany Pots by Darkhax shrinks farming into a single decorative block: put soil in a pot, plant a seed, and the crop grows visibly inside, harvestable by hand or automatically with the hopper variant. It supports crops, saplings, mushrooms, cacti, and a long list of modded plants on Forge, NeoForge, and Fabric.
It is the favorite farming solution for apartments, skyblocks, and anyone who thinks fields are a zoning violation.
Pots in Practice
- Craft a Botany Pot for the price of some terracotta, then right-click soil into it. Dirt, sand, soul sand, and the farmland variants each support their own plant families.
- Plant any supported seed or sapling; growth renders live in the pot at rates tuned against normal farming.
- Harvest by right-click, or upgrade to a Hopper Botany Pot, which auto-harvests into the inventory below — the automation building block.
- Scale sideways: a wall of hopper pots over a chest-and-drawer line is a complete lag-light farm for wood, crops, and dyes.
- Modded synergy: Mystical Agriculture essence crops, Farmer's Delight vegetables, and many biome-mod plants register as pot-compatible (packs often extend the list via datapack).
Soil choice matters: each soil lists its valid categories and growth modifier in JEI, so optimized setups match soil to crop.
