What is Bigger Reactors?
Bigger Reactors is RogueLogix's continuation of Erogenous Beef's Big Reactors for modern Forge versions, rebuilt to stay performant at very large scales. Like its sibling Extreme Reactors, it centers on freeform multiblock reactors and turbines fueled by uranium-family ores, with output determined entirely by your design choices.
The mod supports genuinely huge structures — reactors spanning dozens of blocks per side — with simulation code designed to handle them without lag.
Reactor Design Basics
- Shell the structure with Reactor Casing (glass allowed on faces).
- Fuel Rods run in vertical columns capped by Control Rods; more rods burn more fuel for more heat.
- Moderators fill the space between rods: graphite blocks, beryllium, or fluids each trade heat transfer against fuel efficiency.
- Terminal, Access Ports, and Power Taps handle control, fuel, and output.
- Watch the terminal's stats and adjust control rod insertion until fuel burn matches your power draw.
Checkerboarding fuel rods with quality moderator material is the standard pattern: it stretches fuel efficiency far beyond a solid block of rods.
For serious output, run the reactor in active mode producing steam for turbine multiblocks, tuned by rotor blade count and coil material just as in the Big Reactors lineage.
Bigger Reactors FAQ
Bigger Reactors or Extreme Reactors: which one is in my pack?
Both continue Big Reactors and play similarly. Check the mod list: Extreme Reactors covers current versions including 1.21+, while Bigger Reactors targets Forge 1.15.2 through 1.20.1.
Why is my reactor fuel draining fast?
Insert control rods to throttle burn rate, and improve moderator layout. A reactor with sparse rods and good moderators produces comparable power on a fraction of the fuel.
Does Bigger Reactors work with other mods' power systems?
Yes. Power taps output Forge Energy, so any FE cable, cell, or machine connects directly.
