What is Artifacts?

Artifacts by ochotonida scatters powerful, uncraftable trinkets through world exploration: underground campsites, dungeon loot, and the treacherous Mimics — chest-shaped monsters that punish greedy looting. Items equip via Curios (Forge/NeoForge) or Trinkets (Fabric) slots.

The design philosophy is exploration-only power: none of it crafts, so every artifact in your slots tells a story of somewhere you went.

Notable Artifacts

A tour of fan favorites:

  • Cloud in a Bottle – double jump; the classic first find.
  • Bunny Hoppers – jump height and fall-damage immunity, at the cost of dignity (they are rabbit slippers).
  • Kitty Slippers – creepers flee from you; cat logic applies.
  • Universal Attractor – magnetizes item drops toward you.
  • Digging Claws – haste-tier mining speed on your hands.
  • Feral Claws – attack speed boost for melee builds.
  • Obsidian Skull – grants fire resistance on a cooldown when you catch fire; the classic anti-lava insurance.
  • Snorkel and Flippers – extended breathing and swim speed.
  • Panic Necklace and Shock Pendant – defensive procs (speed burst or lightning riposte) when hit.
  • Superstitious Hat – looting bonus for mob-drop farming.
  • Whoopee Cushion – exactly what it sounds like; zero combat value, maximum server culture.

Campsites generate underground with tents, loot, and frequently a Mimic disguised among real chests — approach every campsite chest with weapon drawn.

Artifacts FAQ

How do I get artifacts?

Explore: underground campsites, dungeon and structure loot tables, and Mimic kills. Artifacts are deliberately uncraftable.

Do artifacts need Curios or Trinkets?

Yes: Curios provides the slots on Forge/NeoForge and Trinkets on Fabric; packs including Artifacts always bundle the matching slot API.

What is a Mimic?

A hostile mob disguised as a loot chest, biting when opened. It drops artifacts on death, making Mimic-hunting a legitimate acquisition strategy.
