Our first community devlog
21 September–5 October 2026

Hey everyone,

Welcome to our first ever CDU devlog!

We’re starting these to give you a look at what we’ve been building, improving and fixing around the community. There’s plenty happening behind the scenes, and we’d like to share more of that work and what it means for the people playing here.

Going forward, we’ll post a devlog on the first and third Sunday of each month. Each one will round up what we’ve been working on, from our servers and website to the little changes that make being part of CDU better.

For this first edition, here’s a look back at the past two weeks.

:minecraft:book: Getting into your first pack

Joining a modded server can mean piecing together a launcher, a pack version and a server address before you’ve even opened the game. We’ve reworked How to Play to walk through those steps in one place.

The guide now uses the current server list for its pack details. Choose your pack and region, get the launcher set up, match the version and find the address to join. We’ve also added more help for the common things that go wrong along the way.

We’ve added more mod guides as well, covering things like storage, machines and recipe browsing.

:minecraft:diamond_pickaxe: Making ourselves at home on the forum

With the forum now part of the main site, we’ve been working through the details of posting and reading: richer formatting, better image handling, recoverable drafts, clearer profiles and moving between discussions and replies. We’ve also been looking after the older posts, images and links brought across from the old forum.

You can now use Minecraft item images in your posts. The Minecraft item button lets you browse the item library and drop an item straight into your message. Handy for a guide, a recipe, or that block whose name you’ve completely forgotten.

:minecraft:compass: Finding your way around

The modpack voter is now on the main site, and we’ve been tidying up search results, shared links and the way pack details open and close.

A few other fixes from around the website:

  • Leaderboard navigation and player portraits

  • Opening the event calendar from the homepage

  • Reconnecting and player presentation in our social spaces

  • Clearer places to leave suggestions or report a problem

:minecraft:redstone: Under the hood

We’ve also been tracking down memory and compatibility issues in heavily modded servers, including cases where memory hangs around longer than it should and things that stop playing nicely together after an update.

A few fixes are through their first round of testing, with more checking still to do before we roll them out more widely.

Found something we should look at?

If a joining step is unclear, a page isn’t behaving, or you’ve got an idea for the community spaces, let us know where you got stuck and what you were trying to do.

Thanks for being part of CDU. We’ll be back with the next devlog on Sunday, 18 October!
