What is modded Minecraft?
Modded Minecraft is Java Edition with extra content added by community creators. Mods can add machines, quests, magic, dimensions, food, mobs, storage systems, and new ways to progress.
What is a modpack?
A modpack is a ready-made collection of mods, configs, and files that all need to match. Installing the pack means everyone joins with the same content the server expects.
What is CurseForge?
CurseForge is a launcher app for installing Minecraft modpacks. It downloads the correct mod files for you and creates a separate profile for each pack.
Setup
From normal Minecraft to your first modpack server
These are the steps most new players need. You do not need to manually download every mod.

Install Minecraft Java Edition
Modded servers use Minecraft Java Edition on PC. Bedrock Edition, console editions, and mobile editions cannot join Java modpack servers.
Tip: Open the normal Minecraft Launcher once before using CurseForge so your Microsoft account is ready.

Download the CurseForge app
Install the CurseForge app, choose Minecraft, then let it find or connect to your Minecraft Java installation.
Tip: The standalone CurseForge app is the easiest path for most new players.

Pick a Craft Down Under pack

Tip: If you are unsure what to play, start with a popular pack and ask in Discord for a recommendation.

Match the listed versions
Check the Minecraft version and modpack version shown on CDU. In CurseForge, install that exact modpack version before joining the server.
Tip: A newer version is not always better for multiplayer. The server and your client need to match.

Launch the pack and join
Press Play in CurseForge, wait for Minecraft to load, open Multiplayer, add one of the CDU server IPs, and join.
Tip: CDU hosts packs in Europe, Australia, and the United States. If a pack has multiple IPs, choose EU, AU, or US based on the region closest to you.
Version matching matters
A modpack server runs a specific Minecraft version and modpack version. If CurseForge installs a newer or older version, the server may reject you. Always match the version shown on the CDU server list or on the pack card below.
Choose the closest region
CDU hosts packs in Europe, Australia, and the United States. If a pack has multiple IPs, choose the EU, AU, or US address closest to you for the best connection.

Mismatched mod list
If Minecraft says your mods do not match the server, check the modpack version again in CurseForge and install the version listed by CDU.
Wrong Minecraft edition
If you are on console, mobile, or Bedrock for Windows, you cannot join these modpack servers. You need Minecraft Java Edition on PC.
Crashes while loading
