What is Occultism?

Occultism by klikli-dev is a goetia-inspired ritual mod for Forge and NeoForge: draw chalk circles, light candles, fill sacrificial bowls, and summon ranked spirits (Foliot, Djinni, Afrit, Marid) bound to jobs. Spirits crush ores and fell trees, courier items around the base, and power a dimensional storage system that outclasses chests for most of the midgame.

The in-game Dictionary of Spirits walks every ritual step-by-step, which keeps the elaborate setups approachable.

Third Eye and First Rituals

  1. Eat Demon's Dream fruit to gain the Third Eye effect, revealing Otherworld materials hidden in normal forests (otherworld leaves/logs, iesnium hints).
  2. Craft your ritual kit: the White Chalk for circles plus the Golden Sacrificial Bowl and item bowls form the base setup; the drawn pattern must match the book's diagram exactly.
  3. Summon a Foliot Crusher: the classic first ritual — it doubles ores by crushing them into dusts as you toss them nearby.
  4. Add infrastructure spirits: the Lumberjack runs a tree farm, the Transporter moves items between inventories, and the Janitor cleans up drops.
  5. Mine Iesnium (otherworld ore, needs an infused pick) to unlock higher-tier rituals and the miner dimension.

Tip: Spirit jobs run on timers and moods per tier; re-summon or upgrade to Djinni/Afrit versions of the same job for speed rather than stacking Foliots.

Dimensional Storage and Endgame

  • Storage Actuator: a spirit-run dimensional storage network with a searchable terminal, remote access via the Stable Wormhole, and honest mass capacity — many packs treat it as the budget AE2.
  • Dimensional Mineshaft: miner spirits dispatched into their own dimension return with ores on repeat, scaling by spirit tier — hands-off mining without chunk-eating quarries.
  • Familiars: ritual-bound companions (greedy, bat, deer, devil and more) grant passive buffs like item pickup, night vision, and damage shields.
  • Afrit and Marid rituals cap the tree with wild-weather summons and the strongest workers; some require battling unbound spirits first.

Occultism automates like a tech mod but reads like a grimoire — the crossover appeal is exactly why kitchen-sink packs love it.

Occultism FAQ

Why can I not see the Occultism trees and ores?

Otherworld materials only reveal under the Third Eye effect from Demon's Dream fruit (or later, permanent otherworld goggles). Eat the fruit and look again.

Why is my Occultism ritual not starting?

Chalk patterns must match the Dictionary of Spirits diagram exactly (color and completeness), bowls must sit in range with the right items, and some rituals need a specific sacrifice or dimension. The book's ritual page verifies each requirement.

What does the Foliot Crusher do?

It crushes ores thrown near it into double dusts — Occultism's ore doubling. Higher-tier crushers (Djinni and up) work faster with better yields on some materials.
